We have been working on developing a strategy to link together the various multi-use trails in Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer and Saratoga counties - a project called the Capital District Trails Plan. Many of you may have attended our planning workshops in each county last spring, and provided valuable input. We have since been working on developing this strategy, and would now like to invite you to attend our Public Open House to review the draft recommendations of that plan. Comments and suggestions gathered at this open house will be used to refine the strategy before it is finalized. Draft materials for review will include: proposed trail maps for Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer and Saratoga counties; Trails Management Best Practices guide; estimates of anticipated economic benefits as well as ideas for branding and marketing of our regional trail system. When: Thursday, September 13th, 2018 Between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Where: Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center, 25 Quackenbush Square, Albany, NY (MAP) Agenda: The Open House will be organized as an informal gallery of exhibits so that people can come and go as they please, there will be a more formal presentation of the materials during the event at approximately 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. If you are interested in attending the open house, we encourage you to visit the CDTC Facebook event page at www.facebook.com/pg/CapitalDistrictMPO/events/ to indicate your interest, so that we may have an idea how many people will attend. Members of the project team—including the CDTC and planning and engineering consultants—will be in attendance to discuss the vision plan and take questions. The team is eager to discuss the draft ideas and have an opportunity to collect comments or suggestions which can be used to refine and finalize the plan. Please feel free to share this info with others who are active recreational trail users or who may have an interest in local trail planning. Contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions. We hope that you can attend. A copy of the Press Release can be downloaded from the link below.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the online survey. We received over 330 responses. The survey is now closed, and we will be tabulating the results and post them here in the coming weeks.

Have an idea for a new trail connection in your area? Want to be able to bike to work? Let us know where you think the new connections should be. You can find links to the interactive map on the home page. We hope you enjoy!
